Welcome to your guide on your journey of learning magic

Materials

You do not need to have anything to practice magic. However, there are some things that are particularly useful to have.

Common Tools

  • A lighter: Whether it be for candles, incense, spells that require burning, or something else, fire is a deeply magical tool, and thus it is very useful to be able to set things on fire at will. Remember to keep in mind basic fire safety rules
  • Candles: Candles are another multi-use tool. They can be used for specific spells, to act as an energy source, as something to meditate on, or even just for aesthetic. Remember to avoid having candles lit for over 4 hours as it can damage the wick.
  • Pocket Knife: Can be used for carving symbols on objects, collecting things from nature, cutting up spell ingredients, etc. Make sure that your chosen pocket knife is legal to have in your area.
  • Jars and Bottles: Useful for spells, storing things, and general aesthetic.
  • Writing Utensils: Useful for drawing sigils and spells. Make sure you have utensils that can draw on different sufaces such as glass, wood, and wax.

Common Ingredients

  • Salt: Salt is an excellent purifier and is used for cleansing and rituals.
  • Sugar: Sugar can be used to sweeten a spell, especially spells meant for attraction.
  • Herbs: Different herbs and plants have differnt meanings. To get an idea of what's possible, take a look at different correspondance lists online. Rememeber that each practitioner may get different results from the same herbs.
  • Incense: Incense, like salt, can be used for cleansing, but it can also be used to infuse objects and areas with a specific intent.
  • Crystals: Crystals are great for storing energy long term. Like herbs, different herbs have different correspondances.
