Sigils and Runes are systems of magic symbols, which, when written down, convey magical effects
Sigils can mean two things: either a picture-like signature of an entity, or a symbolic representation of a practioner's desired outcome. This section focuses on the latter.
The Witch's Sigil Wheel is one way to make a sigil for a beginner.
First, come up with a word that describes what you want. For this example, I will be using the word "SAFE" to make a protection sigil.
Second, trace the word on the wheel as shown:
Third, add a circle where the word starts, and an arrow where the word ends, making it clear which way the energy should flow. Add decorative elements as desired, to personalize the sigil.
Thus, you now have a complete symbol. Be sure to write it down somewhere so you don't forget it. You may wish to test it in different circumstances and see how that effects how it works.
This is but one way of creating sigils. There are many ways and many sigils out there. Some people theorize that even corporate logos are unintentional sigils. It is a broad field of study to look into.
Runes come from specific writing systems made from said runes. The most famous is the Norse alphabet, pictured below:
Each of these runes have their own meanings, associations with various forces and deities, and powers. It is up to you to experiment and see how they will work for you. If you write "feoh"(wealth) on your wrist, do you receive more money or spend more? What if you write it on your wallet? It is up to you to explore.
